Conditions
Foggy and overcast with spotty drizzle at the start. Weather improved with warmer temperatures by 11am.
Annette Kennedy, 4 Gold Medals
I raced a 5K and 10K TT and 20K and 40k and won 4 gold medals.The most fun was the 40K: It was a mass start with the younger to older riders.
I jumped at the start to race with the men. There were a few short surges but I hung on until lap 6. The pack split after a strong steady attack. Couldn’t hang on. Found myself with a small pack of three. We tried to bridge but the pack was too fast for us. With 2 1/2 laps to go I lapped the women’s field and finished with my fourth gold medal of the day.
It was a lot of racing for one day but, great opportunity to race with folks my age and loved the endurance training. Always a fun day at New Britain.
